The good work of Neighbourhood Watch was highlighted at the start of the week by a series of awards to volunteer watch coordinators, while Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch Association promoted the excellent grassroots work that takes place in Flintshire. 60 volunteers were awarded with certificates.
Chairman Mr Graham Harper launched the week with a visit by Heart Radio to our unit at Mold Police Station followed by a Radio interview.

The Good Neighbour Roadshow visited 3 areas, Flint, Broughton and Queensferry, moving around neighbourhoods and communities during the week, encouraging residents to complete the community safety questionnaire which had been made available by Flintshire Community Safety Partnership. All this was part of a series of events aimed at young and older residents, promoting the BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR message:

The 3 Pathfinder areas also received visits throughout the week.
600 Young and Older people benefited from receiving crime prevention information and resources and meeting 2 Volunteer Police Cadets, and Allan Ellis, Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch Association's Youth & Environment Worker.

Children had fun too, receiving safety packs and participating in fun crime prevention quizzes and meeting our Friendly & Safe Flintshire ‘Y Draig Melyn’. Billy Burglar was on hand to assist volunteer retired Police Officer Graham Butlin to show people the Y-Kops Olde Traditional Unit.
Allan said: "Many actually enjoyed the experience of being locked inside the JAIL which is a feature of the Y-kops Unit. This unit is an innovative vehicle that has been designed to build respect between generations and the Law".
There were also events aimed at supporting older people, to prevent them from becoming a victim of doorstep crime.

| The week promoted the message – Neighbourhood Watch is the largest voluntary organisation in England & Wales supporting over 170,000 groups helping 7.9 million households who volunteer to tackle crime and disorder, helping to protect and care for their environment.

The National Neighbourhood Watch Week was also a great opportunity to highlight some exciting news for members:
- Flintshire was the only case study for Wales!
- Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch Association achieved on behalf of the Flintshire Community Safety Partnership a Pathfinder Status!
- Launching Y Draig Melyn – Flintshire’s Friendly Dragon.
- Y-KOPS – building respect between Generations and the Law.
- Y-factor – Caring for our schools and environment.
- Billy Burglar.
- 50+ forum visits.

Everybody who completed a Community Safety Survey was rewarded with:

- Residents NEW overt & covert permanent marking pens to code your properties.
